Lot Essay

Painted on the north-west coast of the isle of Anglesey, the view is taken from the north of Borthwen Bay on the eastern edge of Rhoscolyn marsh towards the distant village of Rhoscolyn. The church of St Gwenfaen can be seen in the distant. The chancel was extended between 1875-9, as evident in the present work, therefore dating the painting to after 1880.
