First editions of two didactic works. Several of the essays by Bigelow, here under the pseudonym "Garrulus," had previously been published in The Telescope. Bigelow was a lawyer and member of the American Antiquarian Society. Stoddard 684 and Evans 36749

Two works in one, 12mo (187 x 102mm). 92pp. (with final blank) and 48pp. (browning and spotting). Contemporary quarter sheep and marbled boards (worn, part of spine panel chipping away). Provenance: James Pearl (inscription on title) - Charles Carter (printed bookplate).
