The canvas is unlined and appears in overall good condition. The work presents minor surface dirt, mostly visible to the thick areas of impasto. There is a visible stretcher mark to the top and bottom edges. The pigments are strong and the colours are truthful to the catalogue illustration. Upon very close inspection, there is a very small spot of paint loss to the red background, near the left edge, in the upper left quadrant, at the level of the sitter's head. UV examination shows no signs of re-touching. Subject to the above, the work appears in overall good, ready-to-hang condition.
