Gouache, pastel and pencil on wove paper. The reverse of the sheet is hinged to the mount in two places at the upper reverse edge. The lower sheet edge is deckled. Some discolouration of the sheet mainly visible on the reverse. The tape remnants of old hinges with associated paper skinning in places at the reverse sheet edges. The artist’s tack holes at the four corners. Some craquelure, some with associated paint losses and flaking in the thick gouache impasto mainly in the green violin towards the right part of the composition. The pigments are strong throughout. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that this work appears to be in generally good condition.
Gouache, pastel and pencil on paper. Le revers de la feuille est maintenu au montage à deux endroits le long de l’extrémité du bord supérieur. Le bord inférieur est non-ébarbé. Décoloration de la feuille principalement visible au revers. Des résidus d’anciennes charnières associées à de l’épidermure par endroits le long des bords au revers. Des trous de punaises faits par l’artiste aux quatre coins. Des craquelures, certaines associées à des manques de peinture et des soulèvements dans les empâtements de gouache, principalement dans le violon vert vers la partie droite de la composition. Les pigments sont vifs sur l’ensemble de la composition. Sous réserve de ce qui précède et selon notre opinion, cette œuvre apparaît en bonne condition générale.
