First edition in a very good dust-jacket. Presentation copy, inscribed in the month before publication by the author to her secretary, amanuensis and close friend Charlotte 'Carlo' Fisher: 'Carlo from Agatha Oct. 1954'. This book was officially published on 1 November. Hubin p. 79.

Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in black (a few minor spots in the text, some light spotting to endpapers, spine sunned, slight spotting to edges, lower corners of covers gently bumped); original dust-jacket supplied from another copy (head of spine and ends of folds chipped, crease to spine, lower panel rather rubbed and discoloured). Provenance: Charlotte 'Carlo' Fisher (1895-1976, secretary, amanuensis and close friend of Agatha Christie; presentation inscription by the author on front free endpaper, and with Fisher’s posthumous book label).
