Photojournalist Ernest C. Withers is best known for recording over 60 years of African American history in the segregated South, capturing key images of the Montgomery bus boycott, the Emmett Till murder trial, and the Memphis sanitation strike, as well as the blues musicians of Beale Street including B. B. King and Howlin' Wolf.
