A rare advance copy in the incredibly fine original dust-jacket. The novel received the James Tait Memorial Prize in its year of publication, and is a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone. It concerns 'Gypo' Nolan in 1920s Dublin following the Irish Civil War in a story of friendship and betrayal.

Octavo. (Two small marginal stains.) Original green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, publisher’s device stamped in blind on lower board, advance copy paper slip and publisher’s postcard loosely inserted; original pictorial dust-jacket; housed in modern blue quarter morocco slipcase.
