The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In good overall condition and ready to place. The veneered top with small scattered patches and minor abrasions and 'nibbling' to edges. Some infill to the back corners, the gilt bronze border with considerable rubbing. The base with scattered age and construction cracks. The back proper left leg slightly loose. Three later slats to frame and some later blocks to legs. The legs with some inactive woodworm. The gesso and carving with some losses, the largest approximately 4 in. to the bead-carved section of the proper right corner of the frieze. Some further scattered losses (not extensive). Re-gilt, the gilding with some rubbing, losses, and surface dirt. As mentioned in description, the frieze and back strut both with unexplained cuts and additional elements which appear to be for reinforcing the frieze rather than an alteration; the carved front of the frieze is undisturbed.
