ATTRIBUTED TO PIERRE-FRANCOIS FEUCHERE, CIRCA 1810
Pierre-François Feuchère, maître in 1763, was a popular and prolific ciseleur-doreur working in Paris with his son Lucien-François in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Near identical pairs of candelabra were listed in the sale of the contents of Pierre-François Feuchère's stock in 1829 described as "Trois paires de girandoles figures dites jambes croises, avec groupes de six lumires; elles sont dores et au vert. Cet article sera divis.," see Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. I, pp. 334, fig. 5.2.14. Each pair sold for between 190 and 206 francs. A pair of candelabra of this design sold Christie's, London, 23 June 1999, lot 13 (£38,900).

Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Each in overall good condition and ready to place. Well preserved and rich, soft toned mercury gilding. Both with minor rubbing, oxidation and light tarnish to ormolu. Some rubbing to patinated-bronze, especially at high points. Marble with natural inclusions and minor 'nibbling' to edges. Both with several branches slightly loose but secure. One lacking drip pan to central nozzle. Two branches on one cadelabrum with screws below the scrolling foliate motif, likely an old repair. The other with central figure very slighlty loose but secure.
Dimensions 351⁄2 in. (90 cm.) high, 121⁄2 in. (32 cm.) wide 71⁄2 in. (19 cm.) wide, 71⁄2 in. (19 cm.) deep (the plinth)
