Doubling as a scholar's rock, the water pot is of irregular shape with various perforations above the naturalistically hollowed-out cavity. The reverse is carved with a square enclosing four characters Qianlong yuwan (Imperial plaything of Qianlong) followed by two inscriptions reading Xushi di shiwu shi (fifteenth rock of the Xu family) and Xiangshiren zhi (acquired by the Rock-taming Master).
