Born in Xi’an, Wang Ziwu graduated from the Xi’an Fine Art Academy in 1963. He has enjoyed an illustrious career as an artist and educator and has held offices in many influential art schools and associations. As one of the most renowned artists from the Chang’an School, he favors figures, birds and flowers as his subjects and paints landscapes occasionally. Wang Ziwu’s oeuvre reflects his mastery of traditional Chinese painting techniques as well as his understanding of Western realism.

This collection began with the establishment of the L & F Art Gallery in Hong Kong in the early 1980s. This establishment sold the paintings of many contemporary artists of the day and provided the gallery owners with opportunities to meet many of them. At the end of the decade, the gallery was closed and the owner of these paintings moved to the United States. As in classical times, he enjoyed his collection of paintings and calligraphy in his leisure time away from his medical career.
