The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Both:
- As could be seen in the illustration, there is some loss to the pigments and scratching to the surface and the base, as well as some earth encrustation.
Hu: - leans slightly
- a restuck section with 2 conjoined pieces and associated repair and overpainting to the mouth and neck
- network of thin lines on the body and the base, which appear to be adhesions or scratches from burial.
- a few chips to foot
- the cover is associated, with some minor potting flaws, a drilled hole, a shallow chip and a few nicks to the mouth rim
Cocoon jar:
- a chip to underside of mouth; another section on the mouth covered with earth possibly to cover restoration
- a large chip and a few other chips and nicks to foot
