THREE HARDSTONE BOTTLES
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The first is a striated limestone bottle of flattened, ovoid form, the lower section of grey tone and the upper section a dark brown. The second is a fossiliferous limestone bottle of rounded, tapering form on an oval footrim, the stone densely packed with white, spikey inclusions in the taupe-gray ground. The third is an amygdaloidal basalt bottle of rounded form with grey and pink-beige striations against a black ground. Together with circular snuff dish decorated in cloisonné enamels with a ribboned stack of books and scrolls.
