Breguet World Time
With its imposing 18k gold 62mm case size and a large dial showcasing the manufactures guilloche expertise, this timepiece overwhelms when turned over to reveal what appears to be an 18th century perpetuelle movement by A.L Breguet himself.  While you would be forgiven for thinking this, it was actually developed and manufactured by Michel Parmigiani, in the essence of A.L Breguet, for the Breguet brand while it was under ownership of InvestCorp in the 1990’s.  Officially designated by the Manufacture as Calibre 570, even though several media outlets and auction houses have claimed it be “Cal. 90”, the movement is a tour de force of Breguet details and history.  From the solid platinum hammer shaped pendule style rotor, to the well-known and documented Para-chute anti shock balance protection, and finally the finishing done at the highest level.  In our conversation with Monsieur Emmanuel Breguet, he informed us that this was not a souscription piece that was paired with a wristwatch.  Rather, it was a limited edition of only 6 examples made within the 1990’s decade.  This particular example No. 5, was manufactured in 1995 and then sold on 5 September 1997, as confirmed by its accompanying Extract from Breguet.
