Lot Essay

The Chronometre Bleu was launched in 2009 and was aimed at a new generation of watch connoisseurs. It’s choice of materials made it an unusual option in the dress watch category and it has been a runaway success for the brand, with a waiting list of buyers that runs into years.

The case was made from tantalum, a heavy metal with greyish-blue tones that’s harder to machine than platinum and gold. This combined with a distinct chrome blue dial gives the watch its name – Chronometre Bleu. The watch is powered by Cal. 1304, designed and manufactured in-house by F.P. Journe, and is made of solid 18k rose gold.
