SPECIALIST'S NOTES
Alicia Penalba (1913 - 1982) was an Argentine born artist best known for her sculptural works. Influenced by the Cubist Movement and inspired by peers Giacometti and Brancusi - Penalba created, a very structural, abstract and unique portfolio spanning over thirty years. One of her most notable sculptures, ‘Le Grand Double’ (1962–1964) resides in the sculpture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum in The Netherlands. During her career, Penalba produced a handful of limited edition pieces of sculptural jewelry, comprising bracelets, necklaces and rings during the 1970s.
