Lot Essay

This pair of gold and enamel ladybug earrings are reminiscent of the art-deco ladybug brooches which Cartier first released in the early 1930’s and became collectors’ items immediately. While the Maison has rendered jewelry from the flora and fauna world, the humble ladybug, together with the scarab, are the only beetle motifs used. This pair of earrings are a modern day and very wearable homage to this iconic Cartier item, one of which is included in our October Important Jewels live auction (lot 246)
