Lot Essay

Andrew Dearman works in the Antiquities department as a Sale Coordinator following the completion of his apprenticeship in Business Data at Christie's in 2023. Dearman is passionate about art history, his inspiration ranges from Pop Art, Post-War movements, performance art and Antiquities & Ancient Art. His practice is based on found images; the figure in the print was inspired by a 1950s swimwear advert. Dearman explores how mid-century idealism manifests itself in the presentation of masculinity and how advertising uses desire as a consumerist tool, which is unpicked in the song the print is titled after.
