Lot Essay

Elizabeth Dawnay is a London based artist and works as a professional fine art photographer. Pursuing a passion for the visual arts and fascination for animals, she holds a BA (hons) in Photomedia, a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and a Master’s in Anthrozoology.

Working in a variety of mediums, Elizabeth’s artworks are heavily informed by her post-grad studies, examining the question What is an animal? Exploring our similarities to other species and the differences that make us unique, endeavouring to create art with an anti-speciesism message.
She is fascinated by the complex ways we perceive, engage, compete and co-exist with non-human animals, with a particular interest in liminality, and those beings and spaces that exist betwixt and between.
