Lot Essay

George Roelich-Scott is a young creative working as an Art Technician at Christie's. Frequenting the Southbank area has created a current interest in brutalism, pulling influence from inherited passions of architecture and his experiences living in London. George likes to explore multiple mediums and works with with pencil, pen, paint, synthetic fabrics specifically for their industrial and practical aesthetic and creates three dimensional works using concrete to pour, cast and carve.

In this work George has used pencil, in order to manipulate the shadows and sharp corners cast from the brutalist building, the Hayward Gallery. The palate inspiration drawn from city drawn break using washed yellow acrylic for softness and a contrasting black pen to create a level of surface area of the building.
