FURTHER DETAILS
Guillem Matallanas is a Barcelona-born designer. After working in his hometown as an architect for several years, he moved to London in 2015 to study the MA Graphic Design at the LCC and develop his career as a graphic designer and exhibition designer. His primary interest as a graphic artist has always been geometry, patterns and optical illusions. His work is the result of exploring how the repetition of simple geometric shapes that create a pattern, combined with subtle line weight treatments and the use of basic colours can generate compositions that evoke volume and movement. His designs do not respond to any specific language or aesthetic but rather reflect his personal interests and formal research. Screen-printing is the technique which allows him to execute his works in a way that most accurately translates the visual effects he is after. He is particularly interested in creating an almost-digital look through the precise manual registration of each colour layer and meticulous calibration of the inks.
