Lot Essay

Through print, installations and performance, Inge van Genuchten seeks to capture the intangible motion into a tangible form. She creates a close understanding of matter by emphasizing its changeability. The work navigates through the area of environmental fragility and interpenetrates into different realities in which we exist. Through combining natural and industrial processes and by focusing on their fluid characteristics, she addresses the underlying system we are inevitably part of. The notion of a system and its transformative character in relation to control, fascinates her.

Inge van Genuchten holds a Master of Fine Art from the Royal College of Art - London and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie - Amsterdam. Her work has been shown internationally at various venues such as; Nest - Den Haag, Crypt Gallery - London, Nieuwe Dakota - Amsterdam. van Genuchten has been shortlisted for the young talent award.
