Lot Essay

Kevin Frazer is a self-taught London-based photographer whose interest in the medium developed in his early teens with a basic camera using the miniature 110-size film. On his 18th birthday, he was given his first 35mm SLR film setup – a used Russian-made Zenit E SLR system made in 1976 with a variety of lenses. Other cameras followed and he moved into slide photography and learnt how to process these at home for greater control over the finished image and continued to experiment with different films which he preferred for shooting aviation-themed work. After digital cameras arrived on the scene, Kevin adopted the new technology in the form of a mid-range camera from digital pioneer Fujifilm. This served him well until he began to receive commissions for wedding work (for which he continued to use film). After trying various DSLR platforms Kevin found that Nikon suited him best and has been using their cameras and lenses ever since. The vast majority of his work is in the field of aviation and motorsport as both subjects have been lifelong interests. Out of season he also enjoys shooting landscape scenes around the South and South West coast of England. In recent years, he has branched into live music events and regularly works with musicians and bands on live performances and album promo work. He is a member of the Royal Photographic Society and owns a mobile studio which has operated on a commercial scale shooting portraits for a variety of clients including rugby teams, actors, professional models and small to medium businesses.
