‘Godfrey Evans was arguably the best wicketkeeper the game has ever seen,’ was the description in Wisden in his obituary in 2000. Evans was seen as one of if not the greatest technician in the history of wicketkeeping. He appeared in 91 Test Matches for England with a high-score of 104 and kept wicket in more than 1000 first-class matches.
