Eric's PickPatek Philippe introduced the reference 5970 in 2004 to replace the reference 3970. The 5970 was the last perpetual chronograph made by the firm with a Lemania-based movement and was discontinued in circa 2010. After the reference 5970, Patek changed to an in-house movement. The 5970 is a direct descendant of the legendary reference 1518 and reference 2499. It is arguably one of the greatest Patek Philippe watches ever made because of its complications, size, and aesthetic. This particular example in yellow gold is the rarest version of the four metals produced and was only made for two years.
Christie's is proud to offer all four case metal versions of the legendary Patek Philippe reference 5970 in this "Fall Back in Time" online auction. We believe this is the first time that all four metals are offered in the same auction. This is a great opportunity to own one or more (or all four) of one of the most popular references ever made by Patek Philippe.
