Lot Essay
Rolex introduced the Explorer model in 1953 and it is still in production today. As one of Rolex's most popular sports watches, the Explorer is easily recognizable by its black dial with the luminous triangle at 12, luminous Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock and luminous baton numerals for the remaining hours. This example features a beautiful glossy dial with gilt writing. The case back is stamped II.64 indicating it is from the second quarter of 1964. Vintage Rolex watches with original certificates and paperwork are highly sought after by collectors.
