Brandon's Pick The reference 1680 was the first Submariner to feature the date function. This watch features the "Submariner" text in red. The inside of the case back is stamped I.70 indicating it is from the first quarter of 1970. These "red" Submariners are becoming more sought after by collectors.
The case and bracelet are in good condition with light scratches. At 10 o’clock along the bottom edge of the side of case is a little nick. The case and bracelet appear to have been polished. The crown shows signs of being polished. The bracelet has some stretch. The dial and hands appear to be original and in excellent condition. The luminescent material in the hands and on the dial have darkened and are matching in color. The bezel insert has light scratches and has faded. The pearl in the bezel appears to be a replacement. This watch has 280 end links and a 9315 bracelet. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch.
The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
