John's Pick
Consigned by a direct descendent of the original owner, this watch originally belonged to Sir John Lindsay Dashwood, 10th Baronet (25 April 1896 – 9 July 1966). Sir Dashwood was the Premier Baronet of Great Britain and lived at West Wycombe Park in Buckinghamshire that was originally created in the 18th century by his infamous ancestor, Sir Francis Dashwood, Bt. who founded the Hellfire Club on the property. The original owner of this watch, Sir John Dashwood, served in WWI and was a commander of one of the first ever tank crews. During WWII, he worked for the Foreign Office. As Assistant Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps from 1933 until his death, he was a senior member of the Royal Household and had for many years served the Queen. He was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1952, and appointed an Extra Gentleman Usher to the Queen in 1958. The watch is signed Breguet, but was not made by Breguet.
