Lot Essay

Heuer Carreras from the 1960s have become an iconic chronograph model due to their clean dial design and architecturally-inspired cases. The flared flat lugs of the Carrera case were completely novel at the time and Carrera watches with the same style of angled lugs remain a cornerstone of TAG Heuer’s product line today.

The present watch is powered by the legendary Valjoux 72 movement. It also features an extremely rare silvered tachymeter track, suggesting it was to be marketed to a race car driver. Finding early Carreras with stunning silvered tracks is extremely uncommon. Later Carreras did not possess silvered tracks.
