Lot Essay
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is offered here in one of its most complicated forms. This 18k pink gold example features a minute-repeating function. Minute-repeating watches were introduced around the end of the 18th-century in order to allow its user to tell the time in the dark. The slide function on this Reverso is flush with the case, creating a stream-lined look. The centrifugal governor visible on the dial at 5 o'clock spins rapidly at a constant rate while the repeater is in use to regulate the chiming.
This handsome watch was made in a series of 500 and comes complete with box and papers.
