Lot Essay

Nara, one of Japan’s foremost artists has a contemporary ‘pop’ style that can be characterized by simple playful drawings that often contain contradictions such as a child holding a knife. This watch, made by Citizen, features a lonesome puppy on the dial with colorful dots around it for a playful feel. The strap keep has an engraved bone on it. The strap is original with raised dots and a tartan backing. The case back of the watch has another of Nara’s figures and his signature beneath. The watch was made in a limited amount of 500 pieces.
Further, the presentation box of the watch was signed by Nara himself, distinguishing this complete example.
