Lot Essay
This instrument brings the beholder back to a different era for sport, a time when mechanical chronometers rather than photoelectric cells governed the destinies of athletes. The large, extremely legible dial is swept by the hands once in 30 seconds, thus allowing for larger scales and better accuracy when reading a measurement (1/10th of a second, instead of the 1/5th usually found on wristwatches). This artifact is a pure chronograph, intended to be used exclusively for the timing of events: it lacks the indication for time, and the movement is halted when the chronograph is disengaged.
