Lot Essay

The "Naviquartz" was publicly presented at the 1970 Basel Fair. Examples still retaining the original "Naviquartz Certificate", instruction manuals and box, such as the present model, are however exceedingly rare. It was furthermore consigned by a descendant of the original owner and has never been offered in public before.

Patek Philippe "Naviquartz" chronometer clocks are high precision timepieces primarily used for celestial navigation and determination of longitude. An accurate chronometer was essential to deep sea marine or air navigation out of sight of land.

The present example, featuring a hinged stand to the back allowing to keep it in a more upright position, is a perfect desk time piece.
