Lot Essay

The present reference 1593, cased in platinum and fitted with the attractive diamond-set dial, represents a most elegant and rare version of the model. Reference 1593 was launched in 1944, and is often considered one of Patek Philippe's best rectangular-shaped designs. The model was produced for over 20 years, mostly in gold, with a few examples cased in platinum.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 128 & 129 and 141 & 142.
