Lot Essay
The present lot is especially striking due to its very distinctive and unique aesthetic. The Edward Piguet series is dedicated to and named after Audemars Piguet’s co-founder, a man said to be acutely captivated by his desire for outstanding craftsmanship and precision. Piguet personally acted as the ‘repasseuer’, or regulator, for the brand, inspecting and ensuring that each crafted timepiece met his exceptional standards. The present lot pays homage to this horological master through the beautiful idiosyncrasies of its design. All Edward Piguet model timepieces have a characteristic rectangular case that sets them apart from other Audemars Piguet models such as the Royal Oak. With an attractive railroad dial, crisp baton numerals, gadrooned crown and beautifully curved lugs, the present lot offers its fair share of craftsmanship contained in a classic yet robust timepiece.
