Lot Essay
The Navitimer debuted in 1954 and its name is derived from a combination of the words "navigator" and "timer." Breitling and AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) decided to develop a revolutionary wristwatch featuring a chronograph and a navigation tool - a slide rule that allows pilots calculate speed, remaining distances, fuel consumption and other useful information. Since the inception of the Navitimer, Breitling has made many variations of the model. The present example features a two-tone motif with a stainless-steel case and gold bezel. This example also features an UTC module at 6 o’clock. This is for setting a second time-zone and has a quartz movement.
