Lot Essay
Chopard has been sponsoring the Mille Miglia race in Italy since 1988 and has been making watches to commemorate the race. The original Mille Miglia race was an automobile race that took place in Italy from 1927 to 1961 and there are reenactment races that continue today. Chopard made many different variations of the Mille Miglia watches. The present example features a white dial with luminous hands and contrasting black hour markers with luminous plots at the top. The rubber strap has a “tire tread” motif, which goes back to the racing heritage for this model.
