The reference 3587 debuted in 1970 and was the first wristwatch in series by Patek Philippe to house a quartz movement. The watch was fitted with the Beta-21 electro-quartz movement developed by Electronic Research Center or CEH (Centre Electronique Horloger). This was the first quartz movement for wristwatches with an analog display.
