Lot Essay

Launched in 1967, the celebrated Sea-Dweller reference 1665 was the first wristwatch designed for use in saturation diving. It is fitted with a Rolex patent valve in the band and is guaranteed waterproof to 610 meters depth. The valve was first developed on the Submariner model and allows helium and other gases to escape, enabling the watch to withstand compression.

A WORD FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER:

WHEN ROLEX "DOUBLE RED" MET THE POPE ....

Working as an international Israeli Emissary I met with Pope John 2nd in the Vatican .

My "Double Red" was with me....!

I was fortunate to have worked in the Caribbean, purchasing my Rolex in Nassau, Bahamas.

My Double Red was..

A pilot,
A scuba diver,
A skier,
A sailor,
A photographer,
A pianist
and a family member....

Always faithful, resilient and accurate!

It’s time now for the right person to wear it and give it the love I gave it through these magnificent adventurous years.
