Lot Essay

Offered by the descendant of its original owner, the present lot is an example of triple calendar with moonphases by Blancpain from the late 1980s. It features the JB logo on the dial and case back, used by the company as its logo from 1986 to 1990. Interestingly, this model can be found with two calibers: the present 6511 is based on an Omega ébauche with calendar module by Frederic Piguet. Caliber 6511 is very rare, as it was soon replaced by a full Frederic Piguet movement, caliber 6595. This watch has hardly any signs of wear and is in excellent condition. Furthermore, the bracelet itself can be considered a collectible on its own, as it is made by Gay Freres, universally acclaimed as among the most talented jewelers and bracelet makers active in Geneva over the past century.
