Lot Essay
In 1994 Omega launched the “1894” to celebrate its first century of existence. Produced in a limited edition, the timepiece – inspired by an historical model - is a true celebration of vintage watch making, and of Omega’s rich history. The two-tone sector dial is a more than obvious nod to the style of the first half of the 20th century. The case as well sings of past times, with its simple yet strong lines and alternation of vertical and horizontal satin finish on the sides in contrast with the polished bezel. This collector’s edition is powered by a true vintage caliber: the last examples of cal. 269 in the hands of Omega were overhauled, set to the highest standards, and then fitted into the cases of these limited edition watches.
