Lot Essay
According to the Archives of Omega, the present watch was sold in Canada in 1953
Reference 2700 (and its waterproof sister reference 2699) represents the first appearance on the market of the legendary “Pie Pan” dial. Distinguished by its elaborate construction with contrasting polished and brushed finishes, inclined rim and dodecahedral center, it is now considered among the most iconic dials of the time. The present timepiece is a rare occasion for the demanding collector to acquire an extremely well preserved example of this historical reference.

The movement is ticking at the time of cataloguing, a service is however recommended given the age of the watch. The dial is nice, clean and original. It is perfectly preserved, and the brushed center developed an even warm patina. The case is in good condition, with very minor signs of polishing. The hallmark to the band present and well preserved. The case back in similar condition. The Observatory logo well preserved.
