Lot Essay

The obvious defining feature of reference 1595 is of course its long curved lugs. This design trait, very unusual for Patek Philippe, earned the reference a nickname among Italian collectors: “Giraffa” (giraffe). It was in production between 1944 and 1953 circa, and available in two versions: with sweep centre seconds or with subsidiary seconds. Furthermore, each of these version can be divided in two series, according to the calibre found in it. The present watch, mounting cal. 12-120, is the first series of the subsidiary seconds version. The second series mounts cal. 12-400.
