Lot Essay
Rolex debuted the Datejust in 1954 and it has been in production ever since. The Datejust is an iconic Rolex and a cornerstone of the collection. This particular example features a fluted bezel and beautiful glossy black dial. The inside of the case back is stamped III.66 indicating it is from the third quarter of 1966.

The case is in good condition with scratches. The case appears to be polished. The side of the case at 8 o’clock has some heavier scratches and nicks. The 3 o’clock side of the case has some heavier scratches. The dial appears to be original and in excellent condition. The hands appear to be replacements. The minutes hand is missing some luminescent material. The hands have developed some patina. The luminescent hour markers on the dial are all intact and have darkened in color. The crystal has some scratches. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.
