The brand Tudor was introduced by Rolex in approximately 1945 with the aim of supplying high quality watches at affordable prices. Although Rolex never advertised their connection to Tudor, they did supply the Oyster cases, amongst other parts. The symbol of the brand was the Tudor rose until around 1960 when it was replaced by the shield which is still in use to date. With their varied and colorful "exotic" dials, these watches have become extremely popular amongst collectors. In fact, this particular Monte Carlo model with striking grey dial, blue registers, and blue rotating bezel, served as the inspiration for a recently and highly popular re-edition called the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue. With interest in vintage sport chronographs from the 1960s and 1970s increasing rapidly, these Monte Carlo’s are becoming highly sought after by collectors.
