Lot Essay
Cartier introduced the Baignoire design in 1921. The case has an elegant ellipse curve, giving the watch an instant simple and timeless chic. The movement is signed Cartier. When this watch came out it was indented for a man but today would be suitable on the wrist of a lady.

The case is in good condition with scratches. The case appears to be polished. The hallmarks on the back of the case and on the side at 9 o'clock are visible. The dial appears to be original but it may have been possibly lightly refreshed in the past. The dial shows signs of wear around the edges with loss of paint. The hands appear to be original. The minute hand shows signs of wear. The dial and hands have developed patina. The screws in both sides of the watch are yellow which is typical for this model and time period. The case number is stamped on the back of the watch in two spots, one in the middle and one close to the 12 o'clock. The crystal has light scratches and is loose. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.
