Lot Essay
The Rolex reference 5034 is an important and extremely rare part of the company’s legendary chronograph history. It is one of the earliest three-register chronographs made by Rolex. This particular example is notable for the beautiful dial featuring a blue tachymeter scale and red telemeter scale around the outer edge. The dial has developed a beautiful patina with time. This is a rare opportunity to purchase such an important and elegant chronograph from Rolex.

The case is in good condition with scratches. The case back has some shallow dings. There are some deeper scratches along the case back ridges for opening the case. There are light dings between the 12 o’clock lugs. The case appears to have been polished. The numbers are not visible between either set of lugs and appear to have been removed through polishing. The hallmark on the back of the 5 o’clock lug is visible. The dial and hands appear to be original. The hands appear to have been relumed. The dial has developed patina. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch.
