Lot Essay

Zenith developed its first in-house automatic chronograph movement in 1969. This movement is known as the "El Primero" and is still highly regarded today. The reference A386 was released in 1969 and is very sought after by collectors. In total, it is reported that Zenith made only 2,500 examples of the A386, and far fewer survive today. The A386 was the only El Primero to offer a rounded case shape and it is highly prized by collectors today. This watch features an unusual and striking tri-color registers and central red seconds hand. These elements give this chronograph a sporty look. This model features the rare original Gay Freres ladder bracelet stamped, "4 69", indicating it is from 1969.
