Lot Essay

Zenith developed its first in-house automatic chronograph movement in 1969. This movement is known as the "El Primero" and is still highly regarded today. The reference A385 was released in 1969. This example features the original Gay Freres folded link ladder bracelet stamped, "2 72", indicating it is from 1972. The dial on this particular example is spectacular. The edges of the dial is dark and it gets lighter towards the middle. The dial has a khaki tone and the central red seconds hand pops against the dial.
