Lot Essay

Fred's Pick
According to Girard-Perregaux the Tourbillon Magistral was released in 2004 and it was in production until circa 2010. It was not made in a limited edition, however it was made in an open series, meaning it was made to order. Only 30 pieces were made in the 6 year production. This model was offered in pink gold, white gold, platinum and one unique piece in titanium. The retail price for the gold version, like the present example was 379,000 Swiss francs.

This watch features a golden bridge on the dial that the tourbillon cage is attached to. The golden bridge is one of Girard-Perregaux's signature design elements, found on many models. The top left section of the dial features a retro-grade date and on the top left is a power reserve gauge. Both sides of the case have rectangular pushers at 1 and 11 o'clock. The 1 o'clock mutes the hour chimer and the 11 o'clock advances the date. This watch features a "magistral sonnerie au passage" or master chime when passing. Therefore the watch can chime on the hour. This is a great opportunity to own a rare highly complicated Girard-Perregaux at a fraction of the retail price.
